Monday 19 October 2026 Morning Notes

Flipped a straddle in PLTR on Friday for +45%, but those gains were offset in losses in a TFC straddle as TFC traded in one of its tightest ranges following ER in its history. Kind of frustrating considering the XLK was down 3% on the day, and all I needed was 2% to b/e, or greater to profit. Another classic.

Friday 16 October 2026 Morning Notes

My only trade yesterday was looking to fade the KMB move higher on guidance, which never happened. I failed to run my stats prior to putting the trade on which is always a bad idea. However, I saw afterwards that KMB was 9 for 10 on closing lower than open on earnings gaps higher, so I would have thrown that trade on anyways.. and of course, it closed higher than open. So damn typical.

Tempted short put fate a second time yesterday, this time in BSP. I was able to clip about 44% of the premium I had sold them for, and it was larger than my short FUN puts so I more than made up for that trade. IV in BSP was around 330% for the otm puts, far too tempting to pass that up.

Tried to short puts in FUN yesterday, only to have to buy them back for more than sold them for... thought the elevated vol would have insulated me a bit, but I tapped out by EOD. However, I could have clipped about 1/3rd of what I had sold them for at EOD had I pressed. #Hindsight.
